Thanks Ruth- there will be rewards for those who offer suggestions and an even bigger one for the one selected!!
I always like older books. How about "Heidi", or the "Anne of Green Gables" books? I know I could think of others, so I'll try to get back to you with some more suggestions.
I'm along with Kim -- can we read a classic? There's a reason why they're called classics! :) "Pollyanna" is a surprisingly good read without being Pollyanna-ish. Don't judge by the Disney movie -- it was awful and only vaguely like the book.
For something more current: "The Council of Dads" by Bruce Feiler It's a true story. When the author was diagnosed with terminal cancer he decided he needed help to keep his memory (and guidance) alive. Here are his words:
"My daughters had just turned three when I first learned I was sick. I instantly imagined all the moments from their lives I would miss: The ballet recitals I wouldn't see, the boyfriends I wouldn't scowl at, the aisles I wouldn't walk down. Mostly I worried that my girls would miss my voice. Three days later I awoke with a thought, 'Here's a way to help my daughters know their father. Reach out to the men who helped make me who I am, and ask them to convey a different message to my girls: How to travel, how to live, how to dream.'"

I haven't read this yet, but would like to. He's an excellent writer and a great speaker (Met him at DMA where he spoke years ago). BTW, he's cancer-free now.
Tuesdays are better, except for the 3rd Tues.

I would like to keep it interesting, and not stick to one genre of book. Also if we could try out some sci fi. Science Fiction is not all about robots and space missions, I think a lot of people would enjoy it, and they have classic sci fi, so, its win - win!
