"This is My Work and Glory"

In Elder M. Russell Ballard's April 2013 conference talk, "This is My Work and Glory", he teaches us about the power of the priesthood and that, if honored, it can lead to promised blessings, not only here on earth, but blessings of immortality and eternal life. On Sunday, we will discuss the priesthood power, its roll in our everyday lives and how it can be a strength to us and to our families. The very power that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ used in the creation of the heavens and the earth, like unto other worlds they created, is the priesthood. The magnitude of their creation is incomprehensible, as scientists have discovered that we live in only one of billions of similar galaxies. This is the same power Jesus Christ relied upon while he was here on earth ministering to the people, blessing them, healing them, uplifting them, saving them. The priesthood power is given to all worthy men who live righteously and who are obedient to our Father. And it is available to each one of us, according to our faith and obedience. Just the thought of being able to tap into this power is strength to me. No matter what our circumstance, the priesthood power is readily available to bless us, heal us and uplift us.

During the restoration of the church, the priesthood was bestowed upon Joseph Smith by Peter, James and John, Moses, Elias and Elijah for use in these latter days. In the revelation given to Joseph Smith in D&C 81, the Lord revealed that the power of the priesthood is to be used to "succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees ... And in doing such things thou wilt do the greatest good unto thy fellow beings, and wilt promote the glory of him who is the Lord."
