What color do you like: Blue!

Favorite food: Crispy Coconut Chicken Salad (from Champps specifically)

Favorite scripture and why: Matthew 5:30 Because it helps me not sin.

Favorite place to visit: Utah (because my family is there)

Favorite thing about living in Dallas: My Job! I love it! And the Dallas 4th ward of course.

Favorite scripture and why: Matthew 11:28-30. I love the reassurance of this scripture that we don't have to experience anything in this life alone. Christ wants us to come to him with our burdens, we just need to be willing.

VOTING - IT IS YOUR PRIVILEGE!

"God bless America, land that we love, stand beside her, and guide her through the night, with a light from Above."  We all love this great country, we know that she is the bastion of freedom to the world, and that it was here on this the American Continent, that the Lord found the religious freedom necessary to restore the ancient church which Christ had established when he lived upon the Earth, during the meridian of time.  We now declare to all people, that it has been restored to the Earth by a Prophet, Joseph Smith,with all the priesthood  power and keys necessary to function in His name -  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We soon get the privilege to vote in a national election on  Tuesday, November 6th.  To vote, you must be registered at the address where you are currently living. and  the deadline to register is this Tuesday, October 9th. 

For those who have just moved into the Ward, you may still vote but must do  it in the old precinct, where you last voted before you moved, unless you re-register your new address by Tuesday.

Early voting begins on October 22nd and runs through November 2nd.  Fretz Park  Rec. Center  is probably our closest early voting place.

Dallas County has a new websitee for voting information, and is easy  to use.  http://www.dallascountyvotes.org

Please exercise your right and privilege to register and vote.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS -" BUDGET FRIENDLY"

Sisters - Christmas is coming, and we have planned a fun craft class at Debra Newcum's home, Tuesday, Oct. 9th at 7:00 p.m.  You can learn to make budget-friendly, picture books for your children, grandchildren or just friends.  They are clever origami designed  little books, and if you add pictures to them, what a priceless gift.  If you don't have pictures to add, they can add their own!

These are inexpensive to make, and after you take the class, you will know how to make more for everyone on your list.  Please bring the following with you:

2 matching sheets of scrapbook paper measuring 12x12
1 sheet of coordinating scrapbook paper measuring 12x12.
(heavy cardstock won't work for the above - but you need 3 below)
3 sheets of cardstock paper measuring 12x12
1 yard of  wireless ribbon
glue stick and scissors

A "VITAL" Religion

In talking to my son who lives in Atlanta and works for a large corporation and deals with ongoing technology changes and policy changes - his take on yesterday's conference sessions was - this is a VITAL religion because of its capacity to change - IMMEDIATELY.
If you listened to the press conference held after the first session of conference concerning the announcement of the changes in the ages of when young men and young women can go on missions (18 & 19 respectively), Elder Holland was asked when the age changes would take effect and he said "30 minutes ago".
I know that this church has Jesus Christ at its helm and that we are led by a Prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson, and by a vigorous Council of the Twelve. I feel momentum build as the Lord sees what we cannot see - the future. He is getting more done at a faster pace and He needs all hands on board.
Elder Glen Pace gave a talk once about the members of the church getting on and off the train at will (the metaphor being the train as the church/gospel) and how the time was coming that those who got off the train would not be able to get back on because of the pace at which the train was moving.
I feel that this weekend. Time is moving quickly and we must be active and vigorous in our testimonies and convictions.
We need to hold on as this TRAIN is  picking up speed - and I think I am feeling that I must do the same!

LISTEN FOR THE CONFERENCE QUOTES

I'm looking forward to General Conference next week, to hear the Word of the Lord. I still miss one of the former apostles, Neal A. Maxwell. Elder Maxwell had a love for words, and crafted them so beautifully as he taught the Gospel.
