January Reading

What makes a woman become "inspirational?" What is it about her actions that makes us want to be more like her? Here are some inspiring quotes to help us along our quest to better ourselves as we work towards our New Year's Resolutions.

President Kimball once said, "Remember, the world before we came here faithful women were given certain assignments while faithful men were foreordained to certain priesthood tasks. . . . You are accountable for those things which long ago were expected of you."

Sister Marjorie Hinckley (the late wife of our late Prophet) said, "Let us not waste our time saying with bitterness, 'Is this what I was born to do?' Let us rather ask ourselves the question that was asked of Esther: 'Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?'

One way to help us be inspired to improve ourselves and reach our goals, is to learn by example. This month the League of Extraordinary Readers will be reading about inspirational women. Each of us will read about a different woman and then share her story at our next meeting. You can read a biography, autobiography, or historical fiction to learn about the woman you choose.

Click on "comments" below to get some ideas. And then when you've decided who you will read about, leave a comment with your name and her name or email me (Ruth G.) and I'll put it in a comment so others won't pick the same woman. First come, first serve.

Happy reading!
